What are extraction ratios?Updated 2 months ago
Confused by the numbers on supplement labels? Don’t worry, we've got you!
Some supplements contain concentrated plant extracts or specific forms of nutrients. These are used to help ensure each serving provides a consistent and reliable amount of the ingredient.
You may sometimes see extraction ratios on supplement labels, such as 10:1, 20:1 or 50:1. These ratios simply explain how concentrated an ingredient is compared to the original plant material.
For example:
A 10:1 extract means 10 parts of the original plant were used to produce 1 part of extract.
A 50:1 extract means 50 parts of the plant were used to produce 1 part of extract.
This allows a smaller tablet or capsule to deliver a concentrated form of the plant, while still maintaining consistency in each serving.
You may also notice specific ingredient forms listed on labels, such as citrate, monohydrate or sulphate. These simply describe the form of the nutrient used in the supplement, which can help support stability, absorption, or manufacturing quality.
Our goal is always to provide supplements that are clear, transparent and consistent, so you can easily understand what you’re taking.
